Arsenal are hoping to add Cristhian Mosquera to their squad this summer.
Multiple reports this afternoon claimed the Gunners had opened talks with Mosquera’s club Valencia in the hope of agreeing a deal for the defender, who can play centrally or at right-back.
The 20-year-old has made 90 appearances for Los Che, including 37 in La Liga last season as they finished 12th after rallying under Carlos Corberan.
Mosquera, a Spain Under-21 international, is eager to join the Gunners, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, although he will have to compete with the likes of William Saliba, Gabriel and Ben White for a starting place.

Norgaard and Arrizabalaga set to join Gunners
Arsenal are slowly recruiting ahead of the new season, albeit there remains no sign of a breakthrough in the search for a much-needed centre forward.
Brentford captain Christian Norgaard is on the verge of completing a £10million move to the Emirates, potentially as a replacement for midfielder Thomas Partey whose contract expires at the end of the month.
Kepa Arrizabalaga is also close to joining Arsenal as back-up goalkeeper after spending last season on loan at Bournemouth from Chelsea.
Lewis-Skelly signs new deal at the Emirates
The Gunners announced earlier on Thursday that 18-year-old full-back Myles Lewis-Skelly has signed a new, five-year contract.
Lewis-Skelly played the bulk of his youth career in midfield but has been converted to left-back by Mikel Arteta, going on to become first-choice in that position for club and country in a remarkable 12 months.

The teenager said: “For me, the work doesn’t stop here. It continues. Just staying in the present moment is important for me and being the best person I can be every day, that’s the goal.
“I’ve embodied the values of [academy] Hale End and come through. I’ve still got a lot of years ahead of me, so if I can keep staying humble and being a good person, that’s the most important thing to me.
“It’s an honour seeing everyone who’s come before me. It’s very humbling to see. Just being a part of that list now, I’m grateful.
“I want a legacy. I want to win everything there is to win in the game. I want to win trophies on the biggest stages while being a person who’s always learning and stays grounded, which is so important.”
